Pop Warner: Warriors defeat Falcons

East Bay plays Fall River

— The East Bay Warriors Pee Wee Division team record its fourth consecutive victory in Rhode Island-Southeastern Massachusetts Pop Warner Football League play when the locals defeated the visiting Fall River Falcons, 20-0, Saturday, Oct. 1, at Veterans Field.

Offensively, the Warriors were led by the hard running of Matt Ditondo, Val Aiello, Jake Ribeiro and Devon Lancaster. Coby Castriotta, Damien Mendoza, Hunter Medeiros, Jeremy Thiboutot, Neil Thibaudeau and Mike Trexler led the East Bay defense.

East Bay improved to 4-1 on the season. The Warriors and the rest of their brethren host the Old Rochester Bulldogs in this week’s games Saturday, Oct. 8.

Jr. Pee Wees

The East Bay Jr. Pee Wees, likewise, improved to 4-1 in the RISMA ranks after the Warriors defeated Fall River, 40-19.

Six different players scored touchdowns for the Warriors. Max Moskala, Matt Defelice, Vinny Berretto, Nick Gerling, Cam Nappi, and Joey Penkala all went in for six. Darren Ellenwood had some hard runs, as did Nick Pierotti. Devin Proulx and Berretto also contributed with a couple of very nice catches in the game.

The East Bay offensive line and ends, however, were the true standouts in the game. They opened huge holes all day long for the backs. Key contributors were Proulx, Ellinwood, Dylan Martins, Zach Burke, Aaron Myers, Tyler Rego, Collin Sullivan, Alex Tainsh, Jack Serbst, Steven Viau, James Marshall, Gage Stephenson, Colin Case, and Shane Hollands.

The defense also had another strong game. Matt Defelice and Josh Pompey played well at the ends, and Pierotti made a nice interception for the Warriors. Cam Nappi made two big tackles on fourth and short to stop Fall River drives, Myers had some tough tackles at linebacker, and Moskala and Penkala had some big stops from their defensive back positions.

Tiny Mites White

The East Bay Tiny Mite White team hosted the Mt. Hope Cowboys this week and kept its four-game streak of fine play going with fine efforts on both sides of the ball.

The offensive line consisting of Aiden Ramaglia, Napoleon Alicea, Izaac Krupowicz, Jason Teeden, Jake Marshall, Tyler Bachand and Brock Pacheco were able to open holes all day for their running backs Andrew Ashley, Patrick Pitts and Riley Furtado.

Ashley and Pitts both had touchdowns, one for 32 yards and one for 64 yards. Furtado added to the ground game with 4 carries for 78 yards. Hunter Kavanaugh continued to be a leader at quarterback, running the offensive flawlessly.

Mt Hope was able score one touchdown, but the Warrior defense, as a whole unit, played very well with great team tackling. Ashley, Pitts and Furtado led the defense with tackles with outstanding plays from Demitri and Mason Tavares, Andrew Medeiros, Benito Reed and Bryce Chace.

Tiny Mites Red

The East Bay Tiny Mite Red team dropped a close, six-point decision to Fall River. The Falcons scored the winning touchdown with a minute to go in the contest.

The East Bay offense was led by the power running of Aiden Bates. Bates scored the lone touchdown for the Warriors. His runs were set up by blocking by Nathan Moniz, Joey Machado, Michael Lombardi and the rest of the offensive line.

The defense played strong all day, led by Aiden Bates, who made tackles all over the field. Also having a strong game on defense were AJ Vieira, Dylan Rodriguez and Gavin Winn.

Breast Cancer Awareness

The Warriors would like to thank the many volunteers who made this past Saturday's Breast Cancer Awareness event a great success. The Warriors would also like to thank those who showed up in support of the event.
