TIVERTON — The wins keep piling up for the East Bay Warriors Jr. Pee Wees as the locals defeated the Sakonnet Schooners, 32-6, in Rhode Island-Southeastern Massachusetts Pop Warner Football League action last weekend.
The Warriors improved to 6-1 with the win. East Bay was up only 13-6 at half-time but played shut-out defense in the second half and scored 3 additions touchdowns for the 32-6 win. A key defensive play was an interception by Tyler Rego from his linebacker position.
Warrior touchdowns were scored by Max Moskala (2), Joey Penkala, Cam Nappi, and Devin Proulx. Proulx’s touchdown came on an excellent 4th down pass by QB Matt Deflice and a great catch by Proulx. Josh Pompey, Darren Ellinwood, Nick Pierotti, and Nick Gerling also ran hard and Vinnie Berretto had some big runs from the QB position.
The offensive line and ends again opened some huge holes for the Warriors, including Berretto, Proulx, Rego, Aaron Myers, Zach Burke, Dylan Martins, Ellinwood, Collin Sullivan, Colin Case, Shane Hollands, Alex Tainsh, Jack Serbst, Steven Viau, James Marshall and Gage Stephenson.
Pee Wees
The East Bay Pee Wees went on the road and defeated the Sakonnet Schooners 29-0 this past Sunday. Val Aiello scored the first of his three touchdowns on the day in the first quarter to give the Warriors an early 6-0 lead.
In the second quarter the Warriors and Aiello marched off an impressive 95 yard touchdown drive. Ryan Ramos added the PAT and the Warriors went up 14-0. Just before the end of the half Ramos hooked up with Damien Mendoza on a 35-yard touchdown strike to give the Warriors a commanding 21-0 half-time lead.
Val Aiello scored the games final touchdown on the opening drive of the second half. Ramos added another PAT and that rounded off the days scoring at 29. Offensively the great line play of Jeff Silvia, Jaydin Silva, Ty Couto, Jake Sarza, and Anthony Reed led to many Warrior first downs on the day. Defensively the Warriors gave up 1 first down on the day and were led by Keith Stephenson, DJ Machado, Matt Ditondo, Jake Ribeiro, Dougie “Fresh” Sampson and Jeremy Thiboutot.
With the victory the Pee Wees up their record to 6 -1 on the season. The Warriors host Fairhaven next Sunday, Oct. 23, in Warren. Games begin at 9 a.m.
The Warriors would like to also wish their cheer and dance teams good luck at Saturday’s RISMA Cheer and Dance Championships.

Mitey Mites
The East Bay Warriors Mitey Mites came from behind to notch their second victory of the fall, a 19-18 win over Sakonnet. Down 18-6 late in the 4th quarter Daniel Silva scored his second touchdown bringing the score to 18-12. On an onside kick recovered by Cory Grifka the Warriors ran the ball down the field to score on a Grifka Touchdown followed by the extra point giving the Warriors a 19-18 lead. Blocking by offensive lineman Pat Mcgovern and Josh Komeiga led the way for the running attack.
Defensively, led by the tackling of defensive end Silva, linebacker Rich Amaral and corner back David Benevides the Warriors were able to repeatedly stall the Schooners’ attack to give the ball back to the offense.
Tiny Mites Red
East Bay Warriors Tiny Mites Red squad earned two impressive wins recently, defeating the Dighton-Rehoboth Falcons 24-6 and the Sakonnet Schooners 24-6.
Last week against Dighton-Rehobeth the Warriors balanced offensive attack led to four different players scoring touchdowns. Kaden Silva, Dylan Rodriguez, Dakota Rioux and AJ Viera each scored a touchdown. They were spurred by the excellent play of the offensive line led by center Nathan Moniz. The defense was led by Aiden Bates who was assisted by Colin O’Connell, Ethan Bland and Daymen Seitz.
This week, Dylan Rodriguez scored three touchdowns and Aiden Bates one in the win over the Schooners. Also doing damage on the ground was Michael Lombardi, Max Travers, and Gordon Kopecky. The defense was tough all day, led by Hilton Begin, Gavin Winn and aided by Mesiah Lastra, Nolan Mello, William Silva, Domenic Enos, Matthew Sampson, and Joey Machado.
