Public Hearing - Disaster Recovery - Feb. 8th

— The Town of Bristol is considering the filing of an application for a Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery. A maximum of $2,200,000 per community is available to undertake the following range of activities related to recovery from the March 12-31, 2010 disaster. Bristol’s application will be to undertake the following range of activities:

• Relieve from Disaster created needs;

• Long Term Recovery Projects and Planning;

• Infrastructure Improvements and Repairs

• Restoration and Rehabilitation of Housing

• Economic Revitalization in affected areas

A public hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Bristol Town Hall, 10 Court Street, Bristol, RI, for the purposes of obtaining the views of citizens on community development in relation to disaster recovery from the severe storms and flooding that occurred in March 2010. Projects under consideration for the application include: study and design for improvements to the State Street Reservoir, Grants and Loans to benefit businesses that have documented losses and unmet need; and, drainage improvements and sewer retrofits.

Parties interested in applying for funds need to obtain an Application at the hearing or by calling 253-7000 x147 and return the completed application and one copy to the Department of Community Development, Attention Diane M. Williamson, 10 Court Street, Bristol, Rhode Island by 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 23, 2012.

Individuals requesting interpreter services for the hearing impaired must notify the Town Clerk’s Office at 253-7000 x130, 48 hours in advance of the hearing date.
