BRISTOL The northbound lane of Hope Street, between Chestnut Street and Gooding Avenue, will remain closed while crews from National Grid make repairs to an electrical line that is in danger of falling.
At around 1:30p.m. on Friday, police and fire closed off that section of Hope Street after receiving a report that wires attached to a utility pole cross section were hanging. Motorists were diverted around the area, causing heavier than usual traffic on Metacom Avenue and side roads.
Once National Grid assessed the line, the southbound lane was re-opened to traffic, but the northbound lane remained closed to allow crews to make necessary repairs.
Further updates will be made as information becomes available.
